In 2020, the Center partnered with Penn State Harrisburg's Institute of State and Regional Affairs to conduct population projections for the Commonwealth and its 67 counties for 2020 to 2050.
Population projection data, used in conjunction with other population data, are useful to public and private agencies for policy development, project planning, and program evaluation.
The Pennsylvania population projections completed for the Center are for the years 2020, 2025, 2030, 2035, 2040, 2045, and 2050, and were developed by 5-year age and gender cohorts.
Provided below are links to the fact sheet, Pennsylvania Population Projections 2050: A First Look, which provides a rural/urban analysis of the population projections, and the population projections Excel file, which includes the data for the commonwealth and all 67 counties.
The methodology report is now available.
